A Light that Never Turns Off

I just wanted to share one of the songs that Ashlyn wrote last spring and performed for her school talent show.  She did a great job singing and playing!

K.C. 2014

Once again, we had a great time visiting my family in Kansas City!  The girls and I were able to go down for a visit in July and the time was filled with cousins, swimming, shopping and the Deanna Rose Farm.  Just got a few pictures from the farm...

4th of July!

Just a few pics from this year's 4th of July parade and fireworks!

Camp Creamery 2014

The summer kicked off with another smashing performance at Camp Creamery!  This year the play took on an alien theme with aliens landing and meeting up with a glee club while being chased by reporters.  Pretty crazy, but very fun for the kids!  Jaclyn was a member of the glee club and Ashlyn got to be an alien!  Always a highlight of the summer for them!

Last Day of School!

School is officially over!  Heritage has its talent show every year on the last day of school, so this year my girls were there to participate.  Jaclyn and some friends made up (with some help from their teacher) a dance to the 1 Girl Nation song, "While We're Young," so they had a lot of fun performing that.  And, Ashlyn decided to play the piano and (for the first time) sing too!  She wrote a song titled "A Light That Never Turns Off" and sang/played it for everyone, and then she also played "Blessed Be Your Name".  It was a fun morning, and I am very proud of both of the girls.

Here are some pictures of the girls with their teachers and some classmates.  It was a great end to the 2013-2014 school year!

Another year wrapping up!

Well, it seemed to be winter, winter, winter, SUMMER!
Hard to believe the school year is over!  I was so ready for it, but it still took me by surprise!

As I get older (and perhaps busier??) I am getting worse and worse at taking pictures.  Poor Kendall, that makes me sad for her.  But, I'm still trying!  I know I can always take pictures with my ipod, but they just don't turn out as nice, so I will still attempt to drag out my camera with me to events, so we can maintain our memories.

There were quite a few end of the year moments to capture, but many of them did not lend themselves to still photography.  The girls are getting more and more into choreography and some dance, and it's just hard to get good action shots of those!  So, they wrapped up their worship dance class and their musical theater classes recently, but I don't have any good pictures of those.  But, I can say that they really enjoyed the experience.  We'll see what next year holds for those activities.

The last week of school was also really fun for them.  There's a lot of events that I don't make it to, but I was able to help out with Field Day this year, so here are some pictures of that fun day.

Basketball for Ashlyn

Ashlyn enjoyed playing basketball for the first time this year!  She was blessed to be on the same team as 6 of her other classmates and Daddy was her coach, so it was really fun!  Hopefully this is the start of many years of the kids playing the sport together.
